En reflectir-se en aquesta, la llum creua dues vegades el mitj\u00e0 ocular i un algorisme analitza la grand\u00e0ria i la forma del punt de llum reflectit. Les imatges obtingudes contenen tota la informaci\u00f3 sobre la qualitat \u00f2ptica de l&#8217;ull, fins i tot les aberracions d&#8217;ordre superior i la llum difusa (dispersi\u00f3 o scattering), les quals no s\u00f3n tingudes habitualment en compte per la majoria de t\u00e8cniques aberrom\u00e9tricas.
